Faces In The Water is a beautifully written story about mental illness. Janet Frame takes a taboo subject and makes it a poetic narrative of insight. I highly recommend this novel.
A wonderful writer, and an amazing life. to be able to survive after being trated so badly, for just being born shy. So sad!
Intimate doubtful morose at times painfully childishly sincere at times almost mocking. Not the easiest reading but rewarding.
Janet Frame's writing is as brutally honest as it is beautiful. This is a good introduction to her works. I can see how she influences others, and should.
Ms. Frame has always been of interest to me since seeing "An Angel at my Table" I read this book 2x. Her recounting of mental illness and institution life is up there among the best!!
