Bought this for my husband. He loved it!
I love this character. I love her growth as a person. The mystery is intriguing, but the local characters and descriptions make this series a favorite.
Love this series. Just finished book #1, 1.5 and #2. Am ready for the next entry as all three tales never missed a beat. Tension, sarcasm, interesting characters and the Sandhills as a backdrop character. Well done!!
Loved this book which is a follow-up of Stripped Bare which was also great but Dark Signal is my favorite. Kate is one gutsy woman who keeps a cool head and her dignity when dealing with her many heartbreaks and proving she can handle her job in a man's world. Anxious for next book.
This is a captivating mystery set in an unusual locale. Baker weaves knowledge of the Nebraska Sandhills and its ferocious winter climate, ranching, the railroad, and small town personalities that results in a rich tapestry of characters and images. I admit that I didn't solve the mystery until it was revealed, either.

This is an entertaining read that I would highly recommend. Grab a soft blanket and hot chocolate, then curl up and prepare a fun adventure.

Everyone who lives in Omaha, Nebraska should read this book. We frequently talk about "outstate" Nebraska without a thought about what that means. Shannon Baker gives a reader like me a visceral insight into this area where cattle outnumber people. And soon, golf courses there might outnumber the cattle, too. And for a son raised in a railroad family, she is spot on with her insight into that industry. This is a terrific read and should not be missed.
